I TEACH ALL AGES AND STYLES from the beginner to the more advanced. Each student is evaluated according to their needs and we proceed from there to meet our goals.
I have a beginners program that I have put together over the last 25 years with the emphasis on two important factors: 1. Learning and 2. FUN! If you’re not having any fun what’s the point. I am very confident in my ability to help you see progress every week and also make it enjoyable.
For beginners things that might be covered include: basic chords and their application (I like my students to start playing simple songs very quickly), reading, using and understanding tablature, strumming and rhythmical patterns and timing (we play together every week).
For the intermediate and more advanced player, lessons could include: proper use of barre chords and using their positions to better understand the neck, learning the most common scales and how to create a solo (I like to start soloing immediately-you can do this!), learning the right way to play classic as well as contemporary songs. Styles include: Rock, Blues, Americana, Alternative, Funk, Country, Jazz, Metal, fingerpicking and anything else.
I also have a great system for teaching advanced chord theory and modes (and their application) that really makes them easier to understand and utilize.
Also if there is something that you really want to be able to play, you can bring it in and I’ll show you how to play it. If you’re not capable yet, we will work to get you there. Remember, this should be fun.
ALSO FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE RETIRED OR OVER THE AGE OF 50. I have many students in your age group and we are really having a GREAT time. You may have wanted to play all of your life but just didn’t have the time and now you do. The next step is to drop the “I’m too old to start now” stuff and let’s get going. In 6 months you’ll be glad you did. In the last few years I have had students ranging in age from 50 to 88! So let’s do it.

Over the years I have had many students go on to become very successful in the music industry. I have seen them have success from the stage of The Grand Ole’ Opry to the most prestigious stage of all, The Grammy Awards. It makes me so happy to see how all of their hard work has paid off and I am so grateful to have been a small part of it.
I AM NOW ALSO OFFERING:
“NASHVILLE GUITAR GROUPJAM CLASS”
OK, so you’ve learned some chords and some scales, and maybe a few songs, but there’s no one to play with.
Groupjam Class is here to give you a chance to sit down and play with others in a Group or Band type environment.
We will be learning some songs and trying to perfect them but there will be plenty of room for jammin’, solo’s and just general good fun.
Our emphasis will be on:
1. Solid rhythm playing and timing.
2. Soloing
3. Learning how to fit in with others and how to flex with the flow in a live group situation.
This will be a supportive environment putting people of similar skill levels together for maximum benefit.
Our initial classes will focus on the BLUES and branch out to include other genres from there.
The Groupjam classes will be approx. 60 to 90 min in length.
The cost is $35 per session and $20 for those who are full time students with me.
